The very vague memories of my ex and I living
between London and the Algarve (Portugal) for 5 summers
brings back the HIGHLY useful recollection of HOW to WORK a EUROPEAN TV.
UGH!
Standby.
WTF do you need a STANDBY mode for a television for??????
The "fake" power button on the remote.
You can't just jump into bed and press "ON"
Ohhh no. That's just too easy.
You must make sure the tv is "ON" **ahem, sorry, standby**
Then, press the "ON" button on the remote...
Wait for it, wait for it, cuz the tv remains unresponsive
You must NOW press a channel button, or, I think ANY button on the remote.
Just incase, oh I dunno, you really DIDN'T want to watch tv and pressed the "ON"
button by accident.

You either wanna WATCH or not.
ON or OFF.
SIMPLE!
Is there going to be a life-threatening sneak invasion to where you'll have
to ready your TV "soldiers" for an immediate and swift "turn on?"
TVs nowadays already SUCK up a HIGHER amount of energy.
As a percentage, in your average household, it's the largest cost.
(in regards to appliances)
So why in the hell would you throw away up to 15% of your money
leaving your TELEVISION on STANDBY!?!?!?!?!!?
